3-Dimensional Imaging Technique for Shape Estimation of Flaw in Ultrasonic Non-destructive Evaluation

摘要

This paper presents 3D imaging technique for ultrasonic non-destructive evaluation. The conventional imaging techniques such as B-scan and C-scan methods provide insufficient information about internal status of underlying material. And also scanned images suffer form speckle noise which is known to be caused by irregular gain boundary of material. In our experiments, we reconstructed 3D images of inner flaw of specimen using A-scans. Some signal processing technique for noise removal, 3D coordinate acquisition, determination of flaw or not-flaw are used for 3D image reconstruction. The proposed technique applies to test specimen with 9-artificial flaws which are assumed to be notches and holes. The Experimental results show the 3D images of artificial flaws and we can measure the quantitative information such as depth, size and shape of flaw.
