摘要

In modal based damaged diagnostics there are two fundamental components, the modal identification algorithm itself and the algorithm used to diagnose the damage from the modal results. Because the information that one wishes to extract from the measurements is usually subtle, accuracy and robustness in both algorithms are essential. In civil engineering applications it is often necessary to perform the modal identification exclusively from output signals. This paper presents a discussion on 3 topics that are germane to damage diagnostics in output only systems, namely: 1) the usual assumption of stationarity of the input in the identification 2) the computation of proper scaling factors for the identified modes and 3) the establishment of a map between changes in synthesized flexibility matrices and spatial location of damage.
