Protti is now strongly represented on the German flat knitting machines market with its own spares and patterning service. Although the Italian Protti company is well known as a manufacturer of high-tech flat knitting machines all over the world, it has also made a name for itself as a manufacturer of accessories knitting machines. In an interview with Protti's managing director, Mr. Luca Protti, at the opening of the Protti exhibition in Reutlingen on 18th and 19th November 1994, the latter emphasised that in 1993, Protti had more than 1500 flat knitting machines installed all over the world, providing them with the appropriate spares and patterning facilities. Protti's major European clients were Spain, Great Britain and France. Furthermore, Protti has exported machines to South America, the Far East and China. Of course, the main market for Protti machines is the home country Italy, and about half of the company's annual output goes to Italian knitwear factories.
