摘要

It is considered extremely important to raise the melting efficiency in plasma arc melting from a commercial point of view. Basic studies were carried out on arc voltage and heat efficiency. By substituting helium for argon as the torch gas, the melting rate can be doubled because of the increase in the arc voltage and heat efficiency to the melting material. When titanium sponge is melted, the arc voltage increases and fluctuates considerably according to the vaporization and decomposition of the contained chlorides.
