In order to estimate the sediment transprot over the broad coastal area, the Miyazaki coast, the grain size and the contents of heavy minerals are analyzed. Furthermore, the empirical eigenfunction analysis was carried out by using the results of the heavy mineral analysis to take an objective view of the results. As the results, the characteristics of sediment sampled in the Ohyodo river is similare to that in the northern coast of the Ohyodo river mouth. The possibility of northward littoral drift can be evaluated on these results. This can be also assumed by the analysis of bathymetric change due to the construction of large breakwater.
