Study on Steam Adsorption in Adsrobent Beds on the Sides of a Fin

Experiments were performed on steam adsorption in thin beds of zeolite 13X, which were put on both sides of the rectangular fin of a finned cooling surface. Reduction of the adsorption rate was observed in the latter half of the reaction period, compared with that in the bed on a plate cooling surface without a fin. This reduction was attributed to a bed temperature rise caused by a resistance to heat conduction within the fin. For the bed on the fin sides, the change of the adsorption rate with time was predicted by considering the effect of heat conduction in the fin segment. In the prediction, the adsorptioon rate measured in the bed on the plate surface was used to evaluate the local adsorption rate in the bed on the fin sides. The predicted adsorption rate agreed well with the measurement.
