Our Journal readers are invited to enjoy what we think is a particularly interesting issue of Lakes and Reservoirs: Research and Management. As our readers know, we typically publish many articles from researchers around the world dealing with the biology, chemistry, physics and hydrology of lakes, and will continue to do so as a core mission of the Journal. The Journal also provides articles focusing on assessing and managing lakes, their resources and their basins in developing and in developed countries. What we want to do with this issue is to highlight the roles, experiences and responsibilities of lake basin stakeholders, who represent major pillars of effective lake basin management.
