摘要

Narratives are powerful forces. They are 'a way of fashioning a sense of continuity of self' (Ochs 2006,285). They allow us to reflect on and make sense of our experiences, to 'try to piece them together into a temporal, causal, and moral logic' (Ochs 2006,278). In addition, when writers reveal their inner selves, with all their frailties and imperfections, by using the first person, a human face is placed on that narrative. In the writer, we see ourselves, and as a result, we each take something different from that narrative.
