The Celtic Sheepskin Co, the UK's largest online mail order retailer of sheepskin footwear, clothing and homeware, has scooped the Online Green Award (OLGA) for Small Retailers. Now in their second year, the OLGA's are organised by the Interactive Media in Retail Group (1MRG) and are designed to encourage consumers and retailers to be more socially responsible in their approach to online trading. Celtic Sheepskin, based at Newquay in Cornwall, started life in the 1970s trading from a garage. Today the company attracts more than half a million visitors a year to its website and ships around 90,000 products to customers across the UK and abroad. The majority of their sheepskin footwear products are handmade on site and the company offer a carbon neutral delivery service. Celtic fought off tough competition from five other competitors, including Boilerjuice, EcoCoffeeShop, Kid-Eco, Tangkoko and Windtrap to win the Small Retailer award, which was voted for by consumers.
