I have been a faithful reader for years. You guys have saved me big bucks. I own a 1972 AA-5 with 50 SMOH, with about 15 hours of auto fuel use on the STC and on the new carburetor. This aircraft had about three hours since annual inspection, and three hours since the plugs were cleaned and gapped.rnYesterday, I was doing circuits at my home field at 2,200 feet MSL. The OAT was 64 degrees E, cumulus at 5,500 feet MSL, and lots of moisture in the air. One tank was filled with recently purchased auto fuel and the other tank was filled with 100LL avgas purchased from the same aircraft fuel dealer. All four fuel sumps were properly drained into transparent containers before flight and no contaminants were observed.
