With the change of seasons it's important to prepare for the harshness of winter, unless you are fortunate enough to live in warm weather year-round. This article will discuss both the engine and airframe and try to bring the two together for a com-monsense solution to potentially difficult and expensive situations encountered during winter operations. Even if you don't fly, but are stuck outside on the ramp, you have to keep checking on your plane for a number of hazards that snow brings, including being plowed into by another plane due to inadequately plowed taxi ways or your plane ending up on its tail from snow loads.
