After a stress-filled 2009, most U.S. base oils players are gearing up for a "more normal" year to unfold. With fingers crossed, they hope business activity will not repeat the poor performance of the past one year-plus.rnMany producers, as well as other suppliers, say that orders are steady for early 2010, although January will likely start out slowly. They are hopeful, however, that seasonal sales will be at more traditional levels by the time March-April rolls around.rnSeveral suppliers said in mid-December that market behavior was "miles ahead" of that experienced in fourth quarter 2008, when demand largely disappeared and then remained void through the first four to six months of 2009.
