When you're shopping for headphones and speakers, bear in mind a couple of important pieces of advice: Ignore the manufacturer's specifications (especially frequency-response numbers). No standard testing methodology exists for these specifications, and many vendors exaggerate their specs for marketing reasons. Instead, use your ears: A high-quality set of headphones or speakers produces audio that has a good balance between the treble (upper), midrange, and bass (lower) frequencies, producing full, rich sound while preserving detail. Be especially wary of exaggerated treble or bass.
