摘要

Effluent from textile industries contains many organic toxic pollutantswhich can be hazardous to aquatic life as well as human health.Phenoland phenol related compounds are one of the most hazardous pollutantspresent in effluent.Even at very low concentration of phenol and phenoliccompounds they pose considerable health and environment concern.Theincreasing toxicity of phenol has become warning alarm and calls for itsremoval.Various methods have been developed for the removal of suchtoxic compounds like chemical methods,physical methods,etc.In thispaper an alternative method is attempted to develop efficientenvironmentally effluent treatment process using microorganisms.Effective phenol degraders were isolated from soil and a consortium wasmade to show faster degradation in less time.To achieve this optimizationof media components along with growth parameters like pH,temperatureand inoculum volume was carried out.The developed method proved to bemost effective and successful process for the treatment of phenolic wastes.
