摘要

In scouring of cotton using enzymes, concentration of pectinase, pH and temperature range, influence the efficiency of the process while alkali concentration, temperature and process atmosphere in alkali scouring influence the extent of scouring and damages that can happen to the fibres, besides removal of natural impurities present in it. Selective staining methods using ruthenium red, iodine test, solvent extraction of residual cotton wax, dyeability of fibres and assessment of functional groups in the scoured cotton are some of the quantitative methods used to assess scoured cotton efficiently. This paper reviews these methods and parameters associated with these tests.
