Fabric evaluation using Kawabata Evaluation system (KES) gives a complete detail on mechanical properties of a fabric at minimum stress level in hand manipulation. This system provides tensile, shear, bending, compression and surface property of the textile. Fabric handle properties can be predicted using this KES system. Since this is an objective evaluation system, one can implement the results to produced fabrics for specific end use. The overall assessment of the fabric can be analyzed by a single parameter using Total Hand Value. This review gives the salient features of KES.
