Textile Industries have been threatened to trigger a hard look at energy saving methods due to energy shortages and spiraling fuel prices. In this research work, an attempt has been made to bring down the dyeing temperature of silk by giving a solvent pretreatment. The effect of solvent pretreatment on the dyeing properties of silk involving three reactive and two acid dyes have been studied. The effect of solvent pretreatment on the fastness properties of the dyed silk have also been studied and the results are presented.
