This report analyses the market for travel and tourism in France, covering: 1.Incoming tourism: International arrivals, ie any person visiting another country for at least 24 hours and for a period not exceeding 12 months, and staying in a collective or private accommodation. Each trip is counted separately therefore including people travelling more than once a year, and also people visiting several countries during one holiday. Arrival figures exclude same-day visitors and transit and cruise passengers, unless otherwise stated, as this can distort arrival figures in important cruise destinations, such as the Caribbean and those in paid employment abroad. 2. International tourism receipts are classified as payments by international inbound tourists, including fares paid to national carriers for international transport and any other prepayments made for goods or services received in the country of destination. This also includes receipts from day visitors from abroad, although there are exceptional cases when these are recorded separately.
