In this paper the dynamical theory for the bending and twisting of thin elastic rods of uniform circular cross-section is used to investigate the twist inserted in the stands of a two-ply yarn manufactured by the Sirospun yarn manufacturing process. The moments and tensions that act on the ply system to maintain the motion are determined.
