I think there are good reasons for bringing construct validity back to its original core of theory validation. For one thing, it would help simplify an inchoate domain of scholarship. For another, it would encourage methodologists to seriously consider an idea of major importance in investigative practice. At the same time, it would free up test theorists to pursue their thinking about psychological measurement on its own terms without having to tie it to distracting notions of construct validity.
