摘要

The adoption of duo-binary Turbo codes in the Digital Video Broadcasting with Return Channel via Satellite (DVB-RCS) standard has triggered considerable research interests in non-binary Turbo codes. Several techniques for error performance enhancement and computational complexity reduction have been developed for codes used in various standards. The work in this paper presents three symbol-level decoding Max Log-MAP algorithms used for Triple binary Turbo codes with Sign Difference Ratio (SDR)-based early stopping mechanism. A detailed computational complexity of the three methods is given which demonstrates significant reduction in computational complexity with increasing E_b/N_0 when SDR is used. Additionally, extensive simulations are performed and a comparative analysis of the techniques is made. The breakdown of the overall computations for each decoding method throughout the whole E_b/N_0 range is also shown.
