A growing need for portable devices has spawned considerable effort to develop suitable multiband antennas. The current communication system has been developed to the broadband and integration meanwhile people's needs for portable mobile communication are higher. This requires antenna development corresponding to broadband technology, multi-frequency technology and miniaturization. It is difficult to design an antenna covering several frequency bands. The drawbacks of Multiband and Broadband antennas are decrease in signal to noise ratio, efficiency and system complexity. This paper focuses the reconfigurable antenna tuned with a frequency response between 850 MHz and 4.5 GHz with high efficiency. The serious problem on multiband antennas are its poor out-of-band rejection compared to the frequency-reconfigurable antenna, hence additional filtering would be required in order for the antenna to attain better noise rejection. Multiband antenna solutions require very expensive stringent filters to improve their out of band rejection. Frequency reconfigurable antennas, on the other hand, have inherent band pass characteristics and generally have excellent out of band rejection without of filters. While reconfigurable antennas can have higher-order resonances, typically they are far away from the operating band and therefore can be removed with much less selective filters at a lower cost. It is essential that a fair cost comparison of these two alternatives include the cost of the filters required for both antennas. Such antennas are usually equipped with switches. Upon toggling the switch between on and off states, the antenna can be reconfigured to support a discrete set of operating frequencies. The observed results show that the performance characteristic of proposed antenna structure is excellent.
