The Department of Textile and Clothing Technology at Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences, Moenchengladbach/Ger-many, is celebrating a double anniversary this year: on the one hand, Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences is 50 years old. On the other hand, the Preudische Hohere Schule fuer Textilindustrie was founded 120 years ago. It later became the Textilingenieurschule, which was transferred to the Department of Textile and Clothing Technology at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences in 1971. On April 15, 1901, the starting signal was given for textile education in Moenchengladbach. The special feature of the school was that it united several departments under one roof. In addition to tex-tile production, there was a ready-to-wear department from 1912, which was successively expanded.
