20 years ago, the ITMA was held in Milan/Italy. Next month, tens of thousands of industry professionals will gather in the Italian city once again for the world's most established textile and garment manufacturing technologies showcase, albeit against a very different global business landscape. Amid growing consciousness of environmental issues and ethical supply chains, sustainability has become something of a buzzword. But more than just a concept or a marketing tactic, the term 'sustainability' has evolved to become a genuine movement, involving all segments of the industry from raw material producers, to textiles and garment makers, to the machinery manufacturers who supply them, down to fashion brands and their retailers.
