The fiber and textile producer Toray Industries Inc., Osaka/Japan, will increase its capacity for polyamide 66 (PA 66) at its subsidiary Thai Toray Synthetics Co., Ltd. (TTS), Bangkok/Thailand. Toray will build an additional production plant at the site in Ayut-thaya/Thailand, which produces PA 66 for automotive airbags, increasing production by approx. 7,000 tons/year. The plant is expected to begin operation in January 2015. Once the plant is in operation, TTS will have a PA capacity of around 23,000 tons/year. Combined with the production capacity of the plant in Aichi/Japan, Toray will have a total PA fiber capacity for airbag applications of 32,000 tons/year.
