Recently, I happened to be driving along Interstate 71 in the Cleveland area. As I passed through a small town by the name of Lindale I noticed that rough spots were forming in the pavement- caused, I'm sure, by the ravages of winter. If the road gets much rougher, I thought, cars won't be able to drive the speed limit, much less exceed it. This is important because Lindale is somewhat notorious as a speed trap. Even though the section of I-71 passing through Lindale is only about a quarter-mile in length, it generates thousands of dollars in fines every year. In fact, I believe, traffic fines are the largest source of income for this tiny town.
