The evolution of the contemporary operating environment is making Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) even more critical as countries seek to combat growing terrorism and insurgency threats. Speaking at the CIA's "Ethos and Profession of Intelligence" conference on 27 October in Washington, DC, US National GEOINT Agency Director Robert Cardillo described wholesale changes in the realm of GEOINT over the past three decades. Outlining the emergence of, "global transparency," Cardillo explained to delegates how the US and partner nations no longer had monopoly control of global GEOINT.
