Despite their age, MBTs of Soviet origins, particularly T-72s, still have room for further upgrades. Modernisation solutions are currently being offered, which is being investigated in this article. Despite more modern MBTs, such as the T-80, T-90, and now the T-14 ARMATA, Russia wants (or, more likely, is forced due to financial constraints) to keep T-72s in operational service for at least, another 15 years, according to Russian tank producer Uralvagonzavod.
