Together, the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) and Naval-Aviation (AvN) has the largest air service in the Southern Hemisphere. MT exclusively discusses key programmes with these two Brazilian air services heads. Along Brazil's current "National Defence Strategy," the main goal into the 21 st Century is to support "National Independence, achieved by a superior autonomous technological capability and the strengthening of the industrial defence base." These ambitions are also targeting space, with the FAB to launch into orbit a 5.8t and 100% indigenously controlled and exclusive military-communications satellite in 2016.
