"Steadfast Jazz" was designed to be the final exam for the staff of Joint Force Command Brunssum before 2014's mission to oversee and command the NATO Response Forces. The process of planning the entire scenario took almost two years, and the exercise was preceded by numerous single-component exercises like "Brilliant Mariner" in the Mediterranean (26 September - 5 October this year). The exercise took place between 2-9 November in Latvia, Poland and on the Baltic where the maritime portion of the Steadfast Jazz 2013 was staged.
