FLIR Systems recently announced that it is delivering RECON sniper and targeting advanced systems to the Royal Netherlands MoD in support of a $14-million order received in late 2012. The RECON B2-FO is a handheld, sniper and forward-observer targeting sensor that is equipped with a medium-wave IR (MWIR) thermal camera, a day-camera, laser rangefinder (LRF), GPS, and digital magnetic compass. This highly-capable modular system provides the user, whether a sniper observer or forward observer, with a host of system configurations to meet weight and portability budget and the choice of manual, magnetic, celestial and gyroscopic north finding options for targeting.
