The phrase "every Marine a rifleman" can be attributed to the level of skill a Marine possesses with a rifle. Not everyone is born a rifleman; but with proper training, a Marine marksmanship instructor can transform someone who has never fired a weapon into an expert shooter.A sniper is a marksman who shoots targets from concealed positions or distances exceeding the capabilities of regular personnel. Snipers typically have specialised training and distinct high-precision rifles.In addition to marksmanship, military snipers are also trained in camouflage, field craft, infiltration, reconnaissance, and observation.
