As the cabinet seats in the new Conservative/Liberal Democrat coalition government are dished out, I'm minded to examine where the two parties are aligned on farming and food policy to see if I can predict what we can expect from the new-look Defra, headed up by Conservative MP Caroline Spelman.rnIt's clear that both parties made noises before the election on what they would offer the farming community, with the Conservatives coming out vocally criticising the government's response to bovine TB and the European driven Nitrate Venerable Zones (NVZs).
