Dairy Crest has hailed its ￡5 million advertising campaign starring Sex Pistols' John Lydon in helping to boost butter sales. The company said the promotion of its Country Life butter by the punk legend under a 'Great British Butter' slogan led to an 85% leap in sales of its spreads in its third quarter. Overall sales at the company's food division, which includes products such as Cathedral City cheese, Clover and Vitalite, were up 4% in the nine months to 31 December amid an "excellent performance" by its key brands.
