Graham Paul of Bradbury and Son of Buxton, Derbyshire says: "We're still the biggest company you've never heard of." And his claim is backed up by the sheer variety of cheeses the company brokers and the services it offers to the specialist sector. There are traditional farmhouse Cheddars, mini truckles, branded Cheddars, reduced fat cheese block product and several "regionals". The list goes on. Last year Bradbury introduced a new concept to the major cheese shows which brings a large number of the smaller makers together under one roof. "That alone brings together a lot of the small players who would not otherwise reach the market except through operations such as ours. We are marketers/distributors. We don't make cheese, although we have some interests in one manufacturing site. We bring consolidation to smaller makers and Continental producers to help them reach the market and to rank alongside some of the bigger players," Mr Paul explained.
