This issue celebrates both 50 years of the Mini Cooper and 20 years of MiniWorld. It was the Mini Cooper, and subsequently the Cooper S, which made the Mini the icon it is today. A performance Mini meant that our favourite car won races and rallies and was a contender in world motorsport - plus it was a British car which we could be proud of. The success also helped to take the Mini into world markets, thus creating the brilliant worldwide Mini scene. The International Mini Meeting is a fine example of the impact the Mini has across the globe, although due to logistics, the event is mainly attended by dedicated European Mini fans. UK-based fans have it fairly easy in terms of parts availablity, etc, so overseas owners have to be extremely dedicated, just to achieve a basic resto.
