摘要

As an international professional association, it is very important that SMPTE is visible in all corners of the world. Sometimes, people think we are a U.S. organization, but although we are based in the U.S., our efforts are very international and we must work hard to make that fact known. Toward that goal, for the first of 2013's quarterly standards meetings, SMPTE had the pleasure of going to Hong Kong. More than 50 members traveled to Hong Kong, while others participated by phone, for the week-long series of standards committee meetings, hosted at the award-winning Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI). Hong Kong provides an excellent location for such meetings. Not only is it a technologically advanced culture, it also brings us closer to China, where we hope to establish closer relations.
