I've known UFOs exist since my close encounter during the evening of May 19,1978. Certainly, I'm waiting on the anticipated Pentagon UFO/UAP report. But we shouldn't lose sight that even a paradigm-shattering official report could have limited impact, unless it also has the effect of encouraging private citizen disclosure of UFO interest or experience. Here's some personal disclosure.The setting was the ultimate in ordinary. I took a stroll with my mother to the neighborhood grocery. Immediately we spotted the object to our right, not too high up, slow or not moving, maybe no more than a block and a half away. No one else in sight. I pointed. "Look it's the Goodyear Blimp."The escalation of hypotheses began instantly. The object maneuvered almost as if to refute my comment- but whoever was in the pilot's seat demonstrated an embarrassing ignorance of the laws of physics.I struggle, even 43 years on, to describe the object's motion. It was fast-very fast. It slid, jerked, or skimmed across the sky (not sure which description works best) moving right to left, stopping in our front field of vision, then back to the right. No sound, no evidence of any propulsion system. Perfect uniformity of speed. No evident acceleration or deceleration. Still vaguely resembling a blimp.
