Of the many resources now being produced that support multicultural education, perhaps none are ever as powerful as the stories of real people's lives. Several new biographies of fascinating figures in America's multicultural history are compelling to the readers. Among all is a story of the first Jew named to the Supreme Court, a notorious and openly gay photographer, an anonymous (until now) and unwitting cell donor, and one of the most influential bebop composers in jazz history. The storytellers include two professors, a science reporter, and the high-priestess of punk rock.
