摘要

Sometimes National Guardsmen answer the call to help others even while their own property is threatened. In Minot, N.D., that's the case for several citizen-soldiers who have been on duty during historic flooding for several weeks. "I had to juggle the task of being on duty, as well as having to take care of getting my house evacuated, my furniture evacuated and getting my family someplace where they're safe," said 1st Sgt. Scott Mai. With the help of friends and neighbors, Mai saved what he could, but he still felt the flood's sting at his house in Burlington, N.D.
