摘要

The White House is now sending letters of condolence to the families of service members who commit suicide while in war zones, but a survivors' advocacy group says the change in policy does not go far enough. Like his immediate predecessors in the Oval Office, President Barack Obama had not been sending letters of condolence to families of service members who commit suicide. Only those whose loved one died from other means while serving in a war zone received the presidential letter. That policy was changed last month to include families of those who kill themselves in a war zone, but that prompted Kim Ruocco to ask The Washington Post, "Why does it matter where he died?"
