A 30-year member of the Massachusetts National Guard and a member of NGAUS took a seat last month in one of America's most exclusive clubs-the U.S. Senate.rnSen. Scott Brown, R-Mass., a lieutenant colonel, fills the seat left open with the death last summer of Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., who had been in the Senate for more than 40 years. Brown is the Army Guard's leadrndefense attorney in New England. In an interview with the Boston Globe newspaper prior to his defeat of Attorney General Martha Coakley, Brown said, "The United States government has put a lot of money in my training. I think about issues of war and peace almost all the time. I think about the men and women serving. I hear their stories and I understand the terminology and what's at stake."
