The Sarobi Reservoir lies midway between Kabul and Jalalabad. Living nearby marsh grasses and blessed with thriving crops, inhabitants of the local village are fortunate. The only problem was, until recently, they had no school. That's when Lt. Col. Alan Klyap, an adviser from the Florida Army Guard's 53rd Brigade Combat Team, and his training team arrived at the village last September. "A school had been bombed by the Taliban," Colonel Klyap said earlier in the summer, "and the people reached out to us during operations during the election process to help them rebuild their school." Thanks to funds from Commander's Emergency Response Program (CERP), Colonel Klyap's team was able to help.
