Today the Danish Armed Forces are engaged in the operations among others in Afghanistan, Iraq and Kosovo playing a role to promote peace and security. Historically Denmark has been a maritime nation depending on global trade as an important part of our national independence. This dependency on peaceful globalisation implies that our national security is interlinked with the development of democracy and human rights in distant parts of the world.
