Norway is continuing her focus on adapting the Armed Forces to the new and changing international security environment. Currently there is a strong emphasis related to the management and control of offshore resources both the more traditional fisheries as well as the oil and gas resources, especially in the North Norwegian Sea/Barents Sea, which of course impacts the Armed Forces. There is an ongoing effort within existing financial and political constraints to gradually develop the Armed Forces to be ready and available for operations nationally and internationally thereby ensuring they remain relevant.
