Within the newly developed structure of the Spanish Armed Forces, the most important role of the Spanish Navy, and indeed the main responsibility of the Chief of Naval Staff, is to provide naval capabilities to the joint strategy, materialised by forces specifically trained and prepared to act in, or project from the maritime environment.
