摘要

In 2001, there occurred in China a series of natural disasters with serious losses, including drought, flooding, hail, typhoon, earthquake, dust devil, snow damage, microtherm, cool injury and so on. According to statistics ratified jointly by the Ministry of Water Conservancy, the Ministry of Agriculture, the State Statistics Bureau, the China Meteorological Administration and other authorities concerned, the affected crop land (farming land) totaled 52.15 million ha, including 31.74 million ha seriously affected and 8.22 million ha harvestless; 370 million people were affected by the disasters, including 260 million seriously affected, 2 538 killed and 2.1 million urgently transferred to safety; 920 000 buildings collapsed; the direct economic loss amounted up to 194.2 billion yuan (see Table 1).
