The Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology (IMET), University of Maryland seeks applications for the position of Assistant Professor (tenure-track). The successful candidate will have a track-record of outstanding research on basic biological processes at the interface between human health and the environment. Focus areas of particular interest include but are not limited to marine natural products discovery using (meta)genomic approaches to identify biosynthetic gene clusters and use of zebrafish or other model systems to study disease or development. Candidates with an interest in practical and biomedical applications of their fundamental research, including interactions with industry, are encouraged to apply. A demonstrated ability to establish a well-funded research program is essential, with strong preference for candidates with active K99, RO1 or equivalent funded research programs. Primary appointment is in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Maryland Baltimore, with a secondary appointment at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science. The primary focus of the appointee will be on research; teaching at the graduate level is encouraged. Candidates should explicitly outline the links of their research to human health and environmental applications.
