Sometimes referred to as dwarf cepheids, Delta Scuti (6 Set) stars vary in luminosity because of changes in helium ionization. Surface convection is predicted to occur in these stars, which would cause 'starquake' oscillations similar to those seen on the Sun. Victoria Antoci et al. have now detected solar-like oscillations in the 6 Set star HD 187547, implying that surface convection can operate efficiently in stars about twice as massive as the Sun.
