The peanut butter sometimes used as spring roll sealant can send unwitting victims into the throes of anaphylaxis. At first, their skin may break out in hives. Their lips, tongue, and throat may start to tingle or itch. Then, in the worst cases, blood pressure drops, breathing becomes difficult, consciousness fades, and death ensues.
